Star Wars on Blu-Ray!

Got it on my 10th wedding anniversary vacation to WalMart. Yes, you read this correctly! It just so happened that the WalMart was very close to Deerhurst Resort and since I wasn’t golfing, or at the spa or having some drinks on the patio, or canoe-ing or sitting around a fire or at a show… Read More »

Truckin’

A nod to my pal Chris McLaren. Christien is in love with that Grateful Dead Classic. Plus he’s a Star Wars fan. Plus he has a tinge of red in his hair. Hmmmmm…..

Summer ends abruptly

But not without a bang. Last Sat was the HOTTEST day I can remember in years. And muggy. That would explain how that wicked wind and rain storm rushed through the berg ending almost before it began. But leaving a lot of trees down and dropping flash flood levels of rain. Fortunately our road had… Read More »

Olivia has retired the training wheels.

A HUGE milestone!! Counter to common belief, it is not a 1st time and you’ll get it sort of thing. This has been a month long work in progress. It started with Olivia asking to have her training wheels removed early August. Then it was several nights of 5-10 minute sessions with Dad running down… Read More »

Night Golf?

Last night was a slow round. So were were fighting the dark for the last 3 holes. Which is a shame because I was -1 going into 17. When we teed off on the par 3 17th (Moors) we could barely see the flight path. But since it’s a par 3 we easily found our… Read More »

Never, ever get interlocking brick!

Funnel Clouds over Waterloo

I witnessed my first funnel cloud yesterday while golfing at Conestoga. While it was serene and sunny on the course, as I looked up from finishing my putt on #1 Moors I saw the funnel cloud. Mac initially thought it was a contrail from a jet but after looking at it a few minutes and… Read More »

driest summer I’ve golfed in a long time

In the spring, in the fall, you only imagine how you possibly hit driver, 9 iron into a 500yd par 5. It’s days like today that I need to remember. It is so hot, and so dry that it’s the perfect storm: I’m the most flexible I can be, the ball compression is matched perfectly… Read More »

Neighbourhood (not the Arcade Fire version)

When I was a wee lad, I remember spending each and every summer day outside and roaming free around the neighbourhood. Neighbourhood, back then, spanned several blocks of real estate. I lived in a small town with the typical gridlike layout so I was usually never within view of the homestead. Indeed, once I was… Read More »
