i was surprised to read that you had "chipped off the rust" this past Tuesday after playing for the first time in a long time. i do recall you having a poker game on the Friday before tuesday, in which a rookie by the name of Tara took home all the coin........perhaps this is when all the rust resulted...

Yeah, 7 was the pivotal hand and was not within my character. It surprised a lot of players who know me. This could go a long way regarding image with those guys. Certainly one hand I'm proud of for being able to read my opponent.

#6 - I was early. So I raised 3x. He's in middle and re-raised all in. I called since I was guaranteed heads up. Typically he can go in with anything but not this time. It was a poor play on my part. All I could see was an opportunity to take someone out. But considering the chip position I had at the time, I should have been more patient and let the hand go. The good news is that a similar situation came up against a different weaker player. Again, I had a marginal hand in middle vs. late. This time I let it go thinking about the long term goal. It's a skill I'm getting better at but have a lot to learn about: managing the stack. My instinct wants me to take the chance to double up and knock somebody out, but there are times when the risk/reward is just not there if you want to finish numero uno.

Congratulations on where you finished :)

Also, the re-raise all in for isolation is actually something I haven't thought a lot about, so that might be useful to me.

re your #6 hand: Were you in late position?

re your #7 hand: Ballsy. It's nice to be sure enough of your read to walk in without a worry about overpairs. I'm not sure I would have done that.
